Calcium |
It is well known that milk and yogurt are calcium-rich foods, but did you know that sesame seeds were also one of them? Surprisingly, sesame seeds are 2 times richer in calcium than milk (330mg per 100g). Sesame's skin is hard and tahini (sesame paste) can be a better form to consume calcium and other nutrients effectively.
Calcium is an essential nutrient for healthy bones and teeth. Our body also needs a certain amount of calcium in the blood in order to maintain healthy muscles and nerves. Furthermore the lack of calcium tends to cause frustration as well. |

Dietary fibre – natural laxative |
Constipation can cause colon cancer or colon polyps, as it may inhibit good bacteria function and increase bad bacteria in the intestines. Dietary fibre is very important in avoiding constipation. Sesame seeds are a very good source of dietary fibre, containing 13.5g per 100g.
There are mainly two types of dietary fibres; the fibres in sesame seeds help bulk up stools so that it passes smoothly through the digestive tract. The other type is contained in fruits such as banana and apple, which help soften stools by absorbing water. As dietary fibres can function even more effectively when these both types are combined, Carwari Organic Tahini with honey & banana could be an ideal combination for your daily breakfast.

Magnesium – medium for minerals |
| Magnesium plays a very important role in balancing mineral balance. Without enough magnesium, minerals such as vitamin B1 or calcium cannot function well in the body. In other words, magnesium works as a medium to help other minerals function smoothly in the body. Sesame seeds are very good source of magnesium. They contain 320mg of magnesium per 100g. It is well known that calcium is mostly stored in bones and teeth, but 50 - 60% of magnesium is also stored in bones. It is an essential mineral for us as it helps produce energy and maintain blood pressure. It is indicated that long-term magnesium deficiency may increase the risk of lifestyle-related disease such as osteoporosis, heart disease and diabetes. |

Vitamin E |
| Sesame is a great source of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is known as a secret of youth because of its antioxidant properties. It helps keep your body cells young by protecting them against free radicals and inhibits the growth of harmful substances that accelerate aging. It also helps cleanse our blood and prevent lifestyle-related diseases such as cancer and arteriosclerosis. Vitamin E also works as a powerful antioxidant, which promotes healthy beautiful skin and slows down the aging of your skin cells. Sesame oil can retain its purity for a long time because of this strong antioxidant power. |

Anthocyanin |
| Black foods such as black soybean and black rice are now in the spotlight for their high content of “anthocyanin”. Black sesame is of course one of them. Anthocyanin is a type of flavonoids. You may have heard that it is good for your eyesight, but that is not the only positive effect of anthocyanin. It also acts as powerful antioxidant, helping to reduce the risk of various diseases and to slow down the aging process by fighting off free radicals in human body. "The secret of beautiful skin" |
| Sesame seeds contain a variety of nutrients that are important to keep healthy beautiful skin such as Vitamin A, B, E, niacin and protein. These nutrients improve skin metabolism. Thanks to its well-balanced combination of nutrients including proteins, minerals and vitamins, sesame seeds are also believed to help our body produce collagen, which is one of the important proteins in skin tissues. Antioxidant power of “sesamin” and vitamin E are also important factors for beautiful skin. They fight against active oxygen, which is believed as a major cause of aging. Because of this antioxidant power, sesame oil is oxidation-resistant, and can be used as massage oil. |

Sesamin (Sesame Lignan)
|
| Sesamin (Sesame Lignan) is a unique substance found in sesame seeds. It is a kind of Sesame Lignan and powerful water-soluble antioxidant. While most other cooking oils start oxidizing when they are exposed to air, sesame oil can retain its purity for a long time because of strong antioxidant power of this sesamin. Research shows that sesamin slows down aging process and prevents various diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Sesamin also helps reduce fat in our body and lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol, the cause of arteriosclerosis. |

Sesame Lignan & Vitamin E – Synergic action for the anti aging |
It has been proven that Sesame Lignan and Vitamin E works in the body synergistically. Vitamin E works all over the body especially in the blood vessels to eliminate bad active oxygen thus helping with the anti aging process.
It is said that the liver has over 500 functions and it consumes more than a third of inhaled oxygen. Therefore the liver cells are constantly exposed to oxidization. If the liver has been oxidized excessively, Vitamin E is used up in the liver hence it won’t circulate all over the body.
If you intake Vitamin E and Sesame Lignan together, Sesame Lignan protects Vitamin E i.e. Sesame Lignan removes bad active oxygen in the liver and allows Vitamin E to be distributed throughout the body to perform at full capacity as anti oxidant in the blood vessels.
Sesame contains both Vitamin E and Sesame Lignan. That’s why sesame is ideal for the anti aging processing. |

Sesame Lignan & Vitamin E - Synergic action in the brain |
The brain hippocampus is a major component of the brain and belongs to the limbic system.
It is confirmed that the synergic action of Sesame Lignan & Vitamin E works in the brain for memory. The brain hippocampus is responsible for memory.
Vitamin E helps to reduce neuronal cell death in the brain hippocampus. Sesame Lignan increases Vitamin E concentration in the brain especially in the hippocampus. |

"Preventing Hangovers" |
It has been confirmed that Sesamin, which is the main component of Sesame Lignan reach enter the liver via the portal vein after been absorbed in the intestine. A Hangover is caused by an accumulation of a toxic substance called acetaldehyde which is developed by alcohol decomposition. Sesame lignan removes active oxygen in the liver and protect the liver function. It means that Sesame lignan stimulate the liver function to decompose acetaldehyde. Sesame lignan increases enzymes which break down acetaldehyde.
Therefore the intake of Sesame lignan before drinking alcohol helps to minimize the increasing of blood acetaldehyde level and accelerate the decrease of alcohol concentration in the body. Tahini is easily absorbed in the body and the best natural resource of Lignan. |

Protect Skin from Ultraviolet Rays |
The substance “Tocotorienol(TCT)” consists of the Vitamin E family together with Tocopherol (known as Vitamin E). TCT has a strong anti-oxidation effect. Research shows its Anti-oxidation effect is about 40 to 60 times stronger than Tocopherol.
The big difference between TCT and Tocopherol is that TCT is accumulated in the skin, so it protects the skin from ultraviolet rays.
Sesame Lignan protects the TCT in the skin. According to the research, the level of TCT in the blood of mice increases after they are given Sesame Lignan along with TCT. The level of TCT also remained high even after the mice were irradiated ultraviolet rays for 7days. |

Prevent Metabolic Syndrome with Sesame Power |
Have you heard of the word “Metabolic Syndrome”? Metabolic syndrome is a combination of medical disorders that increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It affects one in five people, and prevalence increases with age.
A study using rats was carried out to check the effects of Sesame Lignan against the rise of the blood sugar level and the accumulation of fat.
They fed the rats high fat food and compared the result dividing them into groups. According to the study, the blood sugar level of the rats without Sesame Lignan went up significantly whereas the level of the rats that took Sesame Lignan remained low. Those rats gained less fat around the kidney and neutral fat in the liver, compared to the other group.
These results indicate that Sesame Lignan hold down the increase of the blood sugar level and the amount of fat.
By taking Sesame Lignan continually, it is effective to prevent metabolic syndrome or getting worse. |
