Brown Rice Buns Teriyaki Tofu Burger

Ingredients

(Brown Rice Buns)

280g Cooked Brown Rice (Carwari Organic Brown Rice)

10g Cornflour

2 tsp Carwari Organic Toasted Sesame Oil for greasing a pan


(Teriyaki Tofu)

120g Medium Firm or Firm Tofu - Cut into 1cm thickness. Remove excess moisture with a few sheets of kitchen paper.

Cornflour for dust the tofu

10ml Water


(Teriyaki sautéed onion)

1 onion - Thinly sliced


Lettuce

Tomato


Instructions

  1. Prepare the rice buns. Mix cooked brown rice and cornflour in a mixing bowl. Then divide into 4 portions. Place a portion of rice on a plastic wrap lined round shallow plate. Enrobe the rice with a plastic warp then press with fingers. Once it becomes nice round flat shape, take it out from the plate.

  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and pour 1 tsp of Extra Virgin Sesame Oil. Place 2 rice top buns which has black sesame seeds and cook for 3 minutes then turn over and cook further 3 minutes. Then brush Tamari on sesame seed side. Flip and cook the tamari side for another 20-30 seconds to be caramelized. Repeat the process for 2 more buns (brushing Tamari is optional)

  3. Prepare the teriyaki tofu. Mix Mirin, Tamari, Agave Nectar and water in a small bowl for teriyaki sauce. Coat both of large sides of the tofu with cornflour. Heat a pan and grease the pan with Extra Virgin Sesame Oil. Cook until both sides of tofu turn golden. Then pour the teriyaki sauce and coat both sides of tofu. The sauce becomes thicken within 30 seconds and stop the heat.

  4. Heat a pan and grease with Extra Virgin Sesame Oil and sauté the onion. After 3-4 minutes or once it becomes golden add Mirin and Tamari and let the onion to be caramelized.

  5. Assemble the burgers. Place the bottom bun, spread Yuzu Tofu Mayonnaise, place a lettuce leave, Mayonnaise, sliced tomato, Teriyaki Tofu, sautéed onion, lettuce, mayonnaise and cover with the top bun with Tamari coated side top.
